Coast Guard assists in sand dune rescue

Posted: Updated:
MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (06/28/14) - The U.S. Coast Guard had to make a rescue Saturday from a sand dune in Norton Shores.

That's on the west side of the state.

The woman had to be brought to safety on a stretcher after suffering from dehydration and other heat-related issues.

Because of the rough terrain, local emergency workers couldn't get her to safety, so the Coast Guard had to use a helicopter to rescue her - just like they would if they had rescued a boater.
