Bay County Jail no longer on lockdown after meningitis scare

Posted: Updated:
BAY COUNTY (WJRT) -  (07/01/14) - The Bay County Jail is no longer on lockdown after a viral meningitis scare.

Two people, an inmate and a jail officer, contracted the illness.

The inmate should be released from the hospital Tuesday night. The officer was sent home from the hospital Tuesday morning.

Another inmate was checked out too, but simply had a common virus.

Because no one else is showing symptoms, the jail is operating as usual.

Wednesday visitation will go on as scheduled.
