(07/03/14) - A Michigan State Police trooper was involved in a crash with another vehicle that left one person dead.
Family of the victim in that crash confirmed that the woman killed was 64-year-old Jacquelyn Nichols of Flint.
We have not been able to confirm this with police.
Michigan state police tell us around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, an MSP trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near North Road and Pierson Road in Flint.
The driver refused to stop, which started a chase between that vehicle and the MSP cruiser.
During the pursuit, the cruiser struck another vehicle traveling through the intersection of North Road and Pierson Road.
Police have confirmed there were three passengers in the car that was hit by the cruiser. Nichols was a passenger in that vehicle and has died. The other two passengers are in critical condition. There were also two people in MSP cruiser. The trooper in the MSP cruiser is in stable condition and suffered minor injuries. The other passenger, who was doing a ride along with the trooper, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
