MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) -
(07/07/14) - Storm damage is so bad on the west side of the state, the Red Cross has opened a shelter to give people a place to go on Monday to escape the water and power outages.
Consumer's Energy says about 20,000 customers are out of power in Michigan as of noon Monday.
Half of those are in Kent County, where there has been a lot of damage to homes and businesses.
Eight Mid-Michigan counties are dealing with power outages.
Genesee, Saginaw and Shiawassee counties have about 1,000 customers out of power, combined.
