FLINT (WJRT) - (07/07/14) - There is new information on Thursday's deadly crash involving a Michigan State Police trooper.

The crash, at the intersection of North Street and Pierson Road in Flint, left one woman dead and two others critically hurt.

ABC12 spoke with the Michigan State Police Captain Gene Kapp on Monday, and he gave us new information regarding the investigation into the crash.

He tells us they are currently involved in a full-fledged investigation. They are not working with any other agencies at this time to investigate what happened. He said the investigation will take time and once it is completed, they will pass it on for review.

Kapp says the trooper involved was chasing another vehicle after the driver of that vehicle was spotted without a seatbelt on.The pursuit lasted just about 30 seconds before the cruiser struck the other vehicle at the intersection of North Street and Pierson Road.

Police are actively searching for the vehicle, which did get away in this crash, so that the driver can be held accountable in this case.

Kapp told us the trooper and his ride along passenger are both out of the hospital and were treated for minor injuries.

The woman killed in the crash is 64-year-old Jackelyn Nichols of Flint. The other two women involved are currently still in critical condition.
