(07/07/14) - The Michigan State Police are looking for a few good women.
On Saturday, July 19, MSP is hosting a special recruiting seminar for women.
It starts at 10 a.m. at the Macomb Intermediate School District in Clinton Township.
The State Police will show off some of the agency's specialty units, like forensic science, and the canine unit.
The department is looking for women to join the two recruit schools scheduled for February and July 2015.
The full press release is below: The Michigan State Police (MSP) is hosting an informational recruiting seminar for women on Saturday, July 19, 2014. The event will begin promptly at 10:00 AM. This event will be held at the Macomb Intermediate School District, 44001 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038, Room 100B. The event will acquaint interested female candidates with the career opportunities available with the Michigan State Police and will feature many of the department’s specialty units, such as the Forensic Science Division, Canine Unit, Special Investigations, Biometrics and Identification Division, and Gaming Section. At the beginning of the year, the MSP unveiled a new recruiting campaign, ‘ENFORCE, INVESTIGATE and SERVE,’ aimed at attracting candidates interested in a career with the MSP. The new recruiting campaign highlights the training and qualities every recruit must possess in order to enforce, investigate and serve as a State Trooper. Currently, the MSP is recruiting for two scheduled recruit schools beginning in February and July, 2015. The minimum requirements for consideration of employment are as follows: an applicant must be of good moral character; a United States citizen; a Michigan resident at the time of appointment to the academy; at least 21 years of age; possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.; have a good driving record; possess a stable credit history; and no felony convictions. Starting salary at the beginning of the 21-week recruit school is $44,000 annually with a $7,800 raise upon the completion of one year to nearly $52,000 annually.
