Port Huron set for boat week, Mackinac race

PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - Port Huron residents and businesses are set for the annual Blue Water Fest taking place this week.

The Times Herald of Port Huron reports that ( http://bwne.ws/1qOsbkD ) events culminate Saturday with the send-off for the Port Huron-to-Mackinac Island Sailboat Race.

Rick Dionne is vice president for Earl Smith Distributing Co. Dionne estimates the company will deliver 10,000 to 15,000 cases of beer, wine and soft drinks in the Port Huron area during the week. He says that is about a 25 percent increase from the previous week.

Besides water-related activities, events include fireworks, a carnival, music and a lighted boat parade.
