CUTLERVILLE, Mich. (AP) - A church near Grand Rapids that collects furniture for the needy is needy itself after a tornado destroyed the inventory of donated goods.
Bob Storteboom of Covenant Christian Reformed Church tells WOOD-TV, "We got clobbered." The church is OK, but the storage site a few miles away was wiped out by a tornado last Sunday.
Storteboom runs the church's furniture ministry for people who need tables, chairs and beds. As many as 300 items were lost when the roof came off.
Storteboom also works at a food pantry. He says people who need food are also asking about furniture, but he can't help them. A company has given the church a large trailer to store new donations.
Storteboom says, "We got a little ways to go."
