Body of missing fisherman found in Lake Fenton

Posted: Updated:
FENTON (WJRT) - (07/24/14) - After days of searching, the fisherman missing from Lake Fenton has been found.

Sixty-one-year-old James Lehmkuhle went missing on Tuesday.

Around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, we saw dive crews zeroing in on an area about 200 yards from where Lehmkuhle's boat was found at the Moose Lodge in Fenton Township. Just a short time later, his body was pulled from the lake.

Lehmkuhle's family reported him missing when he didn't check in or return on Tuesday. Ever since, crews were scouring the 900 square acre lake searching for any sign of him.

Thursday morning, the Michigan State Police helicopter was brought in to assist. What ultimately led crews to the body was a sonar ping.

Lake Fenton was closed during the search. Fenton Township Fire Chief Ryan Volz tells us the lake will reopen Thursday afternoon.
