Fire departments use vacant building for real-life rescue scenarios

Posted: Updated:
FENTON (WJRT) - (08/03/14) - Firefighters gathered in Fenton Sunday morning for a unique training session.

Blessing Plumbing and Heating plans to tear down an old building and put up a new one soon.

Before they do that, the company offered to let local fire departments train there.

They tried out some real-life situations that could happen in the heat of the moment.

"It's a very rare opportunity for us. Maybe once every five years or so. So we are very appreciative to him for letting us do this," said Linden Fire Chief Brian Will.

Both the Fenton and Linden fire departments took part in the training.
