Businesses are preparing for Back to the Bricks crowds

Posted: Updated:
(08/12/14) - For the next four days and nights, cruisers will be driving up and down Saginaw Street from Flint to Grand Blanc. For some people, it means an opportunity to make a little cash during Back to the Bricks.

With so many people visiting the area, business people see Back to the Bricks as an opportunity.

We visited two spots that will be serving food for the first time and a tattoo parlor hoping to sell some ink.

Burton Police were making sure any cruisers who ventured out on this rainy evening behaved themselves, but they were few and far between. Instead, two businesses were setting up to feed hungry motorists and car lovers.

"We saw a lack of food services on this side of the road and with all the people, we thought we could take advantage of it," said Mike Joslyn, of Burton.

So Joslyn and his wife got a vendors license and are cooking hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hotdogs on a grill.

"Sell some food cheap and make a couple of dollars in the process," Joslyn said.

A little further north on Saginaw Street, another man has a similar plan. Bryan's Smokin' Barbecue business  has set up shop for the first time at Back to the Bricks.

"We've been down here before and the foot traffic is huge, so I'm planning on a big crowd," said Bryan Prentice.

We asked him how he knows how much to order.

"I'm guessing," he said.

Prentice will be serving pulled pork, chicken and polish sausage.

"I've been told my ribs are the best," he said.

Crazy Ink Tattoo Studio recently relocated to Saginaw Street in Burton.

"We've got 200,000 people traveling back and forth that we get to advertise to," said John Luark, Crazy Ink Tattoo Studio owner.

The business will have two live bands playing to entertain the crowds.

"We're hoping to celebrate with everybody, pass out free waters, stickers for kids, run specials on tattoos," Luark said.
