FLINT (WJRT) -
(08/20/14) - Parents, teachers and students at The New Standard Academy in Flint are starting the upcoming school year off with fun and games.
With a bounce house, 50 foot obstacle course and raffle games, families are certainly kicking off this year in an exciting way.
School leaders held the Back to School bash Wednesday afternoon. Returning and new students mingled with their future teachers while also playing on jumpers, going down slides and dancing to music.
Teachers also served students hotdogs and popcorn.
Principal Calvin Sims says the Back to School blast is a great opportunity to build a relationship between his staff and parents.
"There's a lot of glitz and glamour that goes into choosing a school nowadays. Really check the school out. Talk to the people. See if everybody is in it for the right reasons. If people really love your kids and they really want to see your kids educated and then make your decisions based on that," he said.
