Police busy during CMU's "Welcome Back Weekend"

MT. PLEASANT (WJRT) - (08/25/14) - Several police departments in the Mt. Pleasant area were busy for what's known as "Welcome Back Weekend" at Central Michigan University.

From Thursday through Sunday, police responded to 568 calls for issues related to the party weekend.

Police say while most gatherings were peaceful, some unruly party-goers climbed light poles, threw things at police and set fires that were quickly put out.

The most tickets were handed out for underage drinking or drinking in public.

Here's a breakdown of the arrests and citations given out, according to Mt. Pleasant Police:

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, Isabella County Sheriff Department, Central Michigan University Police Department and the Michigan State Police.
