MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (08/28/14) - Football season has officially kicked off, but Thursday night was about more than just the game in one Mid-Michigan community.

The Lakeville Falcons took on the Oscoda Owls. The Lakeville community came out to support the team, but also to support their local veterans.

Thursday night was Veteran Appreciation Night in Lakeville. It was free admission to veterans and their families all night.

They even got free snacks from the concession stand.

The Lakeville Community takes great pride in their decades of military men and women.

"When the varsity team went off the field earlier to go and get dressed, everyone of the varsity players went and shook my hand down there," said Steve Bourcier, the head of the Lakeville Veteran Memorial Community. "It makes me feel pretty good."
