FLINT (WJRT) -
(09/02/14) - Flint City Councilman Eric Mays was back in court, Tuesday, as part of an ongoing legal battle.
A Genesee County circuit judge ruled that Mays' bond will remain the same. Judge Joseph Farah denied the special prosecutors request asking that the councilman's bond be doubled.
Last month, Mays was sentenced to 72 days in jail for a charge of impaired driving.
He made bond less than 12 hours after the ruling came down.
Mays says he believes the judge's decision was fair.
""I believe that if you look all across the state where there's an elected official or just your average citizen, I don't believe that no one has received a similar sentence of 72 days and and $10,800. I'm glad to be not in jail and with a second look at what has happened in the lower court," he said.
Since making bond, Mays has been on a tether and able to attend city council meetings.
