The gala features a conversation with artist Jerry Taliaferro, during which he will discuss the origins of his project and his experience photographing the women of Flint. Veteran Appreciation Luncheon

A free luncheon for ALL veterans will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Bay City. The luncheon is an act of appreciation by the local DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Chapter: Anne Frisby Fitzhugh-Saginaw.

ALL veterans, no matter branch or time of service will be the guests of honor at the luncheon. Veterans are welcome to bring a guest with them to the event. An RSVP by January 19 is necessary for planning purposes.

January "Starting a Business" Trainings

FLINT, MI​ - "Starting a Business" will be presented at the Oak Business Center in Flint via classroom presentation on ​ Wednesday, January 18 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. This workshop will also be presented via webinar on Thursday, January 26 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

"Starting a Business" is designed for individuals who are considering self-employment, or who may be at the beginning stages of starting a business. This introductory training covers the process of starting and operating, evaluating market potential for products/services, costs and financing options, plus business planning. Every registered classroom attendee will receive a copy of the 60+ page book, “Guide to Starting and Operating a Small Business.”

There is no fee for the “Starting a Business” seminar but advance and separate registration for each individual is required.

Animals and the Environment

This show is presented by a Zoologist who worked at the Detroit Zoo. The focus of the program is how animals behave in their natural environment, and why human intervention, trapping, and domestication can be bad for wild animals. Most animals are carried around during the presentation to allow children an up-close look. In any one presentation, children may see a Tortoise, Python, Patagonia Cavy, Baby Alligator, South American Chinchilla, Egyptian Peacock, Albino Peacock, and "Ruthie" the Dog (with her special story)
