SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) - Four people were hospitalized after a head-on crash between a Pontiac Grand Am and a gravel hauler on State Street in Saginaw Township.

Police say the Pontiac was driving east in the 4300 block of State Street near Linda Street around 2:35 p.m. Tuesday when another vehicle swerved into its path. The woman driving the car lost control while avoiding that collision and went into the westbound lane, where she hit the gravel hauler.

The Saginaw Township Fire Department used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate four people from the car.

The driver of the car suffered serious injuries but she appeared to be in stable condition at the scene, according to the Saginaw Township Police Department. Two males and other female in the car suffered less serious injuries.

All four were transported to area hospitals, where their conditions were not known Tuesday afternoon. The gravel truck driver was not injured.

The Saginaw Township Police Department was still investigating the crash Tuesday afternoon.
