Good Yoga welcomes all to find peace on the mat
Flint welcomes new body positive yoga studio.
FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - A new yoga studio is coming to Flint, aiming at creating a welcoming space for everyone.
Founder Bree Boswell says she never imagined herself as a yogi, but life had different plans.
“I never saw myself as the girl that said, ‘Yoga saved my life'; but I am here,” Boswell said. “I just hope to give the community the things yoga has given me.”
While recovering from PTSD stemming from sexual abuse and infertility, she found a source of inner peace and personal strength in yoga.
“When we reconnect and take joy and delight with our bodies and in ourselves, we really can move into a space of acceptance of the things that have affected us in our past.”
Boswell says while yoga can be a tough physical test-- at Good Yoga size, shape and fitness level don’t matter.
“I try to cater to people who are coming into the health or fitness space who have maybe never exercised before or not consistently,” said Boswell. “People who are new to workout clothes, they’re new to group fitness. It’s really important to feel like you’re in an inclusive space, so that you know you have the chance to be curious about your body and be curious about what you can do.”
Even though the current pandemic has delayed the opening of Good Yoga, Boswell says she’s hoping to open in August at the Ferris Wheel in downtown Flint.
