Back to the Bricks Promo Tour includes next generation of muscle cars
Ralph Messer brings his 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 3 alongside classic cars from earlier generations
MUSKEGON, Mich. (WJRT) - The next generation of muscle cars is taking its place alongside classics from the last century during the 11th Back to the Bricks Promo Tour.
The tour made its second to last stop in Muskegon on Tuesday for a car show before the final stop in St. Johns on Wednesday. The show will include a 2021 all electric Ford Mustang Mach 3.
Ralph Messer offered a sneak peak inside. The muscle car is very slick with as much power under the hood as most of those conventional models.
A self-proclaimed Mustang guy since the 1970s, Messer has enjoyed bringing the new Mustang on the promo tour this week, which is his ninth time. He said the fact that his brand new car is allowed in such good company says something about what makes this show so unique.
“A lot of interest in these electric cars now and we thought it would be neat to bring one this year and see how it works out,” Messer said. “So far, there’s been a lot of interest -- a lot of people, in fact. I’m getting almost as many people as the classic cars are getting.”
He said the electric Mustang will outperform most muscle cars with performance and handling.
“I’ve had GT500s, where they’re very quick. But this car (will go) from 0 to 60 about 4.5 seconds, so it’ll hold its own,” Messer said. “Horsepower, we’re about 400, so it’s right up there with those old, vintage Mustangs.”
