Christina Burkhart is the ABC12 morning meteorologist and HealthSource reporter
Christina was born in Pennsylvania but grew up in Saline, Michigan. When she was 5, a tornado came through and blew a massive pine tree through half of the house. She's been obsessed with weather ever since.
Before coming to ABC12, Christina worked as a meteorologist and one-man band reporter at the NBC/ABC affiliate in Traverse City, Michigan. She's excited to be back a little closer to home.
She went to Hillsdale College for one year and finished her undergraduate degree in earth science at Michigan State University (never attending one sporting event! Go Blue!). After working as a research assistant for the University of Michigan, she completed an internship at WDIV in Detroit and realized broadcasting is what she likes to do.
Christina moved to the south, attending Mississippi State University for her master's degree in meteorology. She was chosen for the MSU Great Plains storm chase (saw some great tornadoes!) and helped her school forecasting team bring home their first championship in the University of Oklahoma Weather Challenge.
Christina loves running and being outdoors, as well as spending time with family and friends. She proudly cheers on the Pittsburgh Steelers and all of the Detroit teams. To her, fall Saturdays mean college football, and while she'll watch mostly any game, she roots for Mississippi State, Michigan and Michigan State.
