Amy Hybels moved to Flint from Kalamazoo, where she spent two years working for WWMT as a reporter and special projects producer. Before moving back to her home state of Michigan, she spent five years in the Middle East working as a freelance journalist. She covered the Arab Spring as a one-man band for CNN International out of Jordan. She also made numerous trips to the Za’atari Refugee Camp in Mafraq, interviewing Syrian women to produce an in-depth report on maternal health issues for APTN out of London.
Before moving to the Middle East, Amy spent eight years in Washington, D.C., working as a reporter for WTOP Radio and a reporter/weather anchor for Newschannel 8 in Virginia. She covered the historic Bush vs. Gore Supreme Court decision and hunt for missing Congressional intern Chandra Levy. She also had the opportunity to work on Capitol Hill as a press secretary for a U.S. senator.
Amy earned her master of arts in journalism from Regent University in Virginia Beach, where she also reported for WVEC TV in Norfolk, Virginia.
