Sydney joined the ABC12 sports team in December of 2019 as the Weekend Sports Anchor and Reporter. She is excited to be in Mid-Michigan and cover all the action in the community.
Sydney grew up in the Bay Area in Northern California right in the middle of the three big cities San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose.
Before joining the ABC12 team, Sydney worked in Odessa, Texas, home of the movie "Friday Night Lights." There, she worked as one of the sports reporters then moved up to sports director. Sydney covered the rich tradition and excitement of Texas high school football, taking a trip down to AT&T Stadium -- home of the Dallas Cowboys -- for the state championship. During her time in Texas, she covered a variety of sports ranging from the big four sports to tennis, boxing, swimming and of course a few rodeos.
Sydney graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in sports journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. While in college, Sydney covered the Milwaukee Brewers during spring training for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and won an Emmy Award for one of her stories during that time. She also interned at NBC Sports Bay Area for two summers, covering all the Bay Area teams and worked for Cox Media as their high school football sideline reporter.
Growing up as a die-hard San Francisco 49ers, San Jose Sharks and Oakland A’s fan, Sydney had a passion for sports since she was young. Her passion for sports grew into a love for sports journalism and her goal as a sports reporter is to tell the community stories that go further than the final scores of the games. She feels extremely lucky to be able to cover sports throughout Mid-Michigan and is excited to be part of the ABC12 team.
