Charlie Tinker joined ABC12 in March 2020 as a general assignment reporter, specifically focusing on the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Charlie joined the ABC12 news team in March of 2020 after leaving a five-year stint at 9&10 News (WWTV) in Northern Michigan, where he helped launch and co-anchor "The Four," which is the station’s daily hour-long talk feature program, in addition to several other evening newscasts.

Prior to television, his career began in Detroit radio, where he briefly worked as an on-air personality, commercial vocal talent and as a staffer within the promotions department.

Charlie studied at Oakland University, graduating in 2014. There, an internship with Local 4 (WDIV) later opened the door to a career in journalism, which began with a move north to Traverse City and a bureau reporting spot with WWTV.

Charlie’s duties rapidly transitioned from general assignment reporting to anchoring, first on the weekends and later weekday evening broadcasts, including the 5:00, 7:00 and 10:00 news.

He looks forward to pursuing his passion and getting to know the people of Mid-Michigan in this new role.
