Dimes for Diapers: Counting Change

By  |

BURTON (WJRT) - (05/02/19) - The change counters have been very busy at ELGA Credit Unions across Genesee County, adding up change from the area's youngest donors: dimes, nickels, quarters, and even dollars for diapers.

Mid-Michigan schools are collecting change to help change babies in our community by donating to the Flint Diaper Bank.

Thursday, our own Angie Hendershot helped count some of the grand totals from schools in Davison, Grand Blanc, and Linden.

Students from Flushing to Lake Fenton, from Mt. Morris to Goodrich, from Flint, Westwood Heights, Kearsley, Bentley, Carman Ainsworth and all across the area are competing to collect money that will help make a difference for families who can't afford diapers.

The totals are still being tallied, but we will crown our community champion during the ABC12 Diaper Drive at ELGA Credit Union in Burton on May 31, 2019.

The top three schools will be featured in our ABC12 Good Kids report during the Diaper Drive that same day.

The winning classroom in each participating school will also get a pizza party.
