OTISVILLE (WJRT) (1/10/2019) - A LakeVille High School student accused of assaulting a classmate twice at a school basketball game has been ordered to stay in juvenile detention.
A request for the 14-year-old boy's release came from his attorney during a court appearance this week.
Genesee County Assistant Prosecutor Gerald Snodgrass spoke out against the move, calling the evidence "horrific." He added that the teen is a danger to the public after such aggressive allegations.
The teen is facing four charges as a juvenile, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Snodgrass says the boy is "lucky he was not charged as an adult."
The victim, a 15-year-old girl, told investigators she was forced under a staircase and later into a locked bathroom stall when the suspect sexually assaulted her.
The investigation revealed a second victim and police believe there could be more.
