CHESANING (WJRT) (12/4/2018) - Two women have been shot in Chesaning and police arrested a third woman after a standoff Tuesday evening.
The victims, believed to be in their mid-to-late 40's were shot around 8:40 p.m. in the 800 block of South Front Street, according to Saginaw County Sheriff Bill Federspiel.
One woman was found outside the residence in critical condition and the other woman also managed to escape the home where the shooting is believed to have taken place.
Federspiel said two of his detectives scooped up the injured women and brought them into waiting ambulances. They were then airlifted to area hospitals.
The suspect, a 50-year old woman, also suffered a gunshot wound. Police have not said how she was shot or how badly she was injured.
The sheriff's office emergency response team was engaged in a standoff with the female suspect. She was holed up in the residence on South Front Street and a hostage negotiator was called in to assist.
The 50-year-old surrendered peacefully. She was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and remained hospitalized late Tuesday night.
Police were obtaining a search warrant to enter the house and continue the investigation late Tuesday. Federspiel said a weapon already was recovered at the scene.
