MONTCALM COUNTY (WJRT) (7/3/2018) - Four people were injured, including a woman with severe cuts from a boat propeller, after two boats collided on Montcalm County's Crystal Lake.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Friday when a 1990 Harris Float Deck boat heading north collided with a 1994 Stratos Bass boat heading west on the water.

The operators of both vessels both told the Montcalm County Sheriff's Office that they didn't see each other until just before impact.

Police say 61-year-old Mark Becker of Wayne, who was operating the Harris Float Deck, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Patti Largent, 57, of Toledo was hospitalized with severe cuts possibly from a boat propeller.

Family members of a 3-year-old boy aboard the Harris boat took him to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Six other people on the Harris boat were not injured.

A 16-year-old boy from Woodhaven aboard the bass boat was hospitalized with minor injuries. The operator, 42-year-old Jackie Mays of Woodhaven, and two other people on the bass boat were not hurt.

Police say everyone involved was complying with regulations for life jackets.

The sheriff's office Marine Unit towed the partially sunken Harris boat back to shore. The owner of the Stratos Bass boat rode it back to shore.
