MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (08-23-18) - State police say 34 men are facing charges after a 19-county prostitution sting.
Investigators say the effort focused on Northern Michigan and included the communities of Houghton Lake, Alpena and Traverse City.
To date, 35 arrests have been made in seven counties, during nine enforcement initiatives. One of the men was arrested twice as part of the same investigation.
The arrests have resulted in 73 criminal charges, including solicitation for prostitution and using a computer to commit a crime. Three of the charges involved possession of marijuana, oxycodone and a firearm.
Investigators say the sting is part of an ongoing, larger effort to fight human trafficking in the region.
