GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) - UPDATE: The roads blocked by a stalled CSX train reopened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday after the train was repaired.
A statement from CSX said its train had mechanical issues.
The company said more workers had to be brought in while repairs were made since the original train crew had reached the maximum hours of service allowed under federal law.
Part of the statement says "CSX strives to be a good neighbor to communities where we operate ... We apologize for the inconvenience for this unexpected event. Our goal is to safely and efficiently moving freight for our customers while working to limit the impact of our operations on motorists, pedestrians and communities.”
(02/20/19) - A stalled train stopped traffic Wednesday morning at some busy Genesee County intersections.
The affected areas included Grand Blanc Road between Davis and Seward streets, Reid Road between Mill and Seward streets, as well as Hill Road between Center Road and Saginaw Street.
CSX reported the train broke down around 5:30 a.m. It said crews were working to fix the problem but it would likely take several hours for the intersections to reopen.
