GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (03/12/19) - A 48-year-old woman is dead and two people are in custody after a possible pedestrian crash in Grand Blanc Township early Tuesday.

Grand Blanc Township police block Maple Road just east of Fenton Road while investigating a crash.

The crash happened around 3:10 a.m. in the 1000 block of East Maple Road, which is just east of Fenton Road. Police found the woman lying on the ground when they arrived.

Other responding officers saw a gray vehicle driving away from the area westbound on Maple Road and initiated a traffic stop, according to the Grand Blanc Township Police Department.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old male and 37-year-old female in the vehicle. Police believe an altercation occurred between the 48-year-old victim and the two suspects in the SUV prior to her getting hit.

She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Maple Road was closed between Fenton Road and the I-475 overpass while police investigated the scene with help from a Michigan State Police mobile crime lab.

As of midday Tuesday, the suspects hadn't been formally charged with any crimes.
