LAPEER COUNTY (WJRT) (4/15/2019) - A 76-year-old man is dead after losing control of his pickup truck on wet roads and rolling it into a tree in Lapeer County.

The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. Sunday while the man was driving east on Dryden Road near Havens Road in Dryden Township. Police say he lost control, crossed the center line and rolled over some mailboxes into the ditch.

The truck came to rest on its side against a large pine tree. A Dryden Township police officer first on the scene found the truck with heavy damage and the 76-year-old inside with no signs of life.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say roads were wet from a wintry mix of sleet and rain falling at the time of the crash. They don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The Dryden Township Police Department could not find any witnesses to the crash. Anyone who saw a white 2012 Dodge Ram in the area Sunday afternoon or witnessed the crash is asked to call 810-796-2271.
