FLINT (WJRT) (12/3/2018) - A terrible week for a Mid-Michigan woman was turned around with an act of kindness far beyond what she ever imagined someone would do for her.
Brent Haney drove by noticed Leanne Turner with a flat tire on the side of the road in Montrose. He pulled over to help but didn't stop at just changing the tire.
"He went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of," Turner said.
Last Friday, Leanne Turner was heading home in Montrose after a long week.
"Anything that could go wrong was going wrong,” Turner said.
Then one more problem piled up as her a warning light on car dashboard went off. She looked and noticed her tire was completely flat and she didn't have a spare tire in her car.
Turner debated whether to walk home in the dark with her kids.
"Yeah, I didn't realize it 12 miles until he told me that, 'Yeah you're about 12 miles,'” Turner said.
A handful of people did stop and attempted to help the family stuck on the side of the road. Haney made a few calls and was able to get Turner a new tire that he bought with his money.
To him, this was second nature to help someone in trouble.
"Growing up, my dad would stop and assist people on the side of the road and my mom helped people when she can,” Haney said.
Haney offered to buy Turner the matching set of tires. He said he wants to make sure Turner's car would have set on the snowy roads.
"I am ecstatic because that is a snow tire right there and you're going to be fine. I was like oh my God thank you," Turner said.
