Android Industries in Flint hiring for 150 manufacturing positions
(04/08/19) -- The Flint job market will soon include new manufacturing positions, thanks to a new partnership that comes with big promises.
Automotive Supplier Android Industries, along with Mott Community College and the City of Flint have announced they're looking to fill 150 manufacturing jobs at their plant near Bishop International Airport.
"We recently signed a new deal with GM. We currently have their business with the truck plant here, so we've got the next generation truck they have going on. So we've got 5 modules associated with that," said Plant Manager Byron Darby.
Darby says they're looking for people with a good work ethic, good with their hands, pays attention to detail and takes pride in what they do.
A number of positions are open including maintenance workers, shift managers and hi-lo drivers among many others.
"You know they've already hired some people and for us to be able to have these kinds of jobs, good paying jobs with benefits, that's what we want. We want jobs where it really makes a difference in the person's life where they can take care of themselves and their family," said Flint Mayor Karen Weaver.
"One of the big things we try to do here is promote from within, so I encourage each new employee that comes in to learn everything they can, ask all the questions they can," Darby said.
Mott Community College will be hosting a hiring event this coming Wednesday, April 10th from 10:00- 2:00 p.m. at the Workforce Education Center.
Applicants are encouraged to dress appropriately and bring copies of their resumes.
