Application process begins Tuesday for Genesee County 'Empty the Shelter' campaign

GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) - (4/23/19) - Genesee County Animal Control will begin accepting online applications Tuesday for its upcoming 'Empty the Shelter' event.

The form will be available starting at noon.

Through the national 'Empty the Shelters' campaign, people who are preapproved will receive big discounts when they adopt a dog or cat on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On that day, Genesee County Animal Control says all dog, puppy and kitten adoptions will be $25. Adult cats will be $20.

The BISSELL Pet Foundation covers the rest of the adoption fees.

The shelter says all of its animals are vaccinated, altered, and microchipped.

Adoption applications must be turned in by 3 p.m. on May 3.

They will be available online and at the shelter at 4351 W. Pasadena Avenue in Flint.

Animal Control requires 'meet and greets' for all dogs in your home as well as children under the age of 18.
