MT. MORRIS (WJRT) (3/5/2018) - An armed robbery in downtown Mt. Morris early Monday afternoon led to a brief lockdown at area schools.

Mt. Morris City Police Chief Keith Becker said an employee was leaving Skill Fish Arcade at 11690 N. Saginaw St. when an assailant approached her with a gun as she was getting into her car.

The employee was not injured, but the suspect made off with about $12,000 cash.

Mt. Morris City police attempted to track the suspect but was unsuccessful. He was last seen running toward Mt. Morris Junior High School.

During the search, Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools went into secure mode. The lockdown was lifted a short time later.

Police say the gunman was still on the loose Monday afternoon. He was described as a thin white male in his 20s wearing a black stocking hat and dark jacket, carrying a black handgun.
