FLINT (WJRT) (6/26/2018) - Authorities have identified the man found dead inside the rubble of an abandoned house that burned on East Gracelawn Avenue in Flint.

Johnny Mayfield's body was found in the house in the 200 block of East Gracelawn Avenue on May 10.

Five days earlier on May 5, the Flint Fire Department extinguished a fire that heavily damaged the house. A demolition crew had torn down much of what remained standing after the fire a few days later.

On May 10, a neighbor walking his dog smelled a foul odor and noticed flies swarming on the property. He called police, who found Mayfield's body in the foundation of the house left untouched by the demolition crew.

Mayfield was last seen alive around May 2 at his residence in the 100 block of East Baker Street, which is about two miles from the fire scene.

Crime Stoppers of Flint and Genesee County is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for Mayfield's death.
