OGEMAW COUNTY (WJRT) (11/20/2017) - A Bay City man accidentally shot himself while deer hunting over the weekend.

The Ogemaw County Sheriff's Office said the 32-year-old man was hunting in woods near Rau and Dunham Lake roads Saturday morning in Edwards Township.

Investigators say the man fell asleep with a handgun in his hand and when the alarm on his cell phone went off he accidentally pulled the trigger. The bullet hit the man in one of his legs.

He was rushed to an area hospital and was recovering from the gunshot wound on Monday.
