CBD oils for sale at Mid-Michigan Family Video stores

GENESEE COUNTY - (WJRT) - (4/12/19) - A new endeavor for a popular video rental chain.

Next time you visit Family Video -- you might see some items for sale that look out of place.

Family Video managers says the company is shifting its vision -- to accommodate customers' changing tastes.

At first glance, it looks like your typical video store, filled with oldies, but goodies, as well as new releases.

But, take a closer look, and you'll see some things that seem out of place.

"We like helping people, whether it's get them their favorite movie that they want to watch and have a good night, or get them some more relief with the CBD," Jennifer Gray Clio Family Video Manager.

Family Video operates more than 700 stores throughout the United States and Canada.

Their founder, discovered the benefits of CBD oils, the non-intoxicating marijuana extract which helps treat a host of medical problems, almost by accident to treat a bad case of tennis elbow.

"Our president of the company decided that he was going to start taking CBD and experienced a lot of relief from it. So, he wanted to bring that to everybody and realized it was kind of hard to find," Gray added.

Some people may not want to shop on-line and feel more comfortable shopping at a place where they can see what they are buying.

"I've had a couple people tell me they drive a few hours to get it, so now that it's in their local community it's a lot easier for them," commented Kira Herman, Flushing Family Video Assistant Manager.

In order to maintain a healthy business, stores are branching out in other areas as well to stay competitive.

"We're property owners now and with the leasing out of the spaces and the CBD, we're constantly changing with the times and making sure that we keep up with what's relevant to our customers," Gray said.

"Netflix does not have new release movies. It takes them a while to get them, so a lot of people come here for the new release movies, instead of, you know, waiting six months to see the latest Avengers movie or DC movie," Herman added.

While CBD products might seem odd to some, this brand new business may help keep Family Video from going the way of the dodo or Blockbuster.
