TUSCOLA COUNTY (WJRT) - (01/04/19) – A chain-reaction crash in Tuscola County injures an 11-year-old Caro student sitting in the back of a school bus.

Michigan State Police say it happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. on East Caro Road near Cameron in Almer Township, just outside of the Caro city limits.

Investigators say a Ford F-150 pickup truck failed to yield to the Caro Community Schools bus, despite the activation of the red flashing lights and stop signal.

As a result, the truck rear-ended a Chevy Trailblazer that was stopped behind the bus as it prepared to let students off and it slammed into the back of the bus.

Police say nine children were on board at the time, aged five to twelve. The student who was hurt has minor injuries. The other kids were checked out at the scene and released to their parents.

The 63-year-old man in the Trailblazer from Decker also suffered minor injuries.

Troopers believe fatigued driving played a role in the crash, not any other impairment. The driver of the F-150 was issued a ticket at the scene and released.
