Chrome and Ice winter indoor car show begins Friday

FLINT (WJRT) - (02/07/19) - Chrome & Ice is Flint's indoor car show, and it's happening this weekend.

Coordinators and carowners are setting up Thursday at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center.

When the event begins tomorrow, there will be more than 125 vintage cars. Some of those cars are capable of speeds exceeding 200 miles an hour. For Steve Hobson, chairman of the board, the feeling of seeing those cars pulling in never gets old.

"I get goosebumps when I see these cars pulling in. This is just so much fun to bring to Flint. Flint doesn't get to see things like we're having in the lobby. I've said myself, I haven't seen these kinds of cars together in Flint ever," Hobson said.

The 4th annual Chrome & Ice begins tomorrow at 2 and continues Saturday and Sunday. Tickets run $8 dollars for adults. $5 for teens, and free for kids under 12.

This is a great event for some family-friendly fun for all ages including the young at heart. That also includes Dave Hurst, who's excited to present his Lamborghini for the very first time.

"Probably my favorite thing is the dual-clutch transmission, accelerates to 60 mph in under 30 seconds, 200 mph top speed that I have failed to ever hit, but it will flat out get right up at the program. It makes it a lot of fun," Hurst said.

Chrome & Ice began with just 35 cars 4 years ago and has been growing year after year.
