SAGINAW (WJRT) (10/25/2017) - Cignys is expanding in the Saginaw area, creating 50 jobs.
The Michigan Economic Development Authority helped secure funding to make the $6 million expansion possible. Cignys has been awarded a $200,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
Michigan was chosen over a competing site in South Carolina.
“Cignys is a longstanding employer in Saginaw County and today’s announcement means more jobs for area residents for years to come. The company’s decision to further expand and invest here underscores Michigan’s business-friendly environment and talented workforce,” said Jeff Mason, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The company was founded in 1919 and used to go by name Saginaw Products Corporation. It provides high-end machining, fabricating, paint and assembly operations for the defense aerospace, and automotive industries.
“We are pleased to be able to continuously invest in the creation of new jobs in the Great Lakes Bay area. On behalf of Cignys, I would like to personally thank the state of Michigan and local communities who have provided invaluable support and resources,” said Cignys President and CEO Jim Kendall. “This support will allow us to expand our capabilities to better serve our customers in the defense and aerospace markets and be a growing employer in the area for years to come.”
