HARRISON (WJRT) (12/21/2017) - A Clare County man will spend 17.5 years in federal prison after being convicted of soliciting explicit photos from a teen in the Philippines.
Nathan Bowling, 31, of Harrison was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Thursday for a charge of attempted manufacturing of child pornography.
Bowling offered to purchase a cell phone for a 17-year-old girl in the Philippines in October 2016 on the condition that she use it to send sexually explicit videos of herself to him via Skype.
He also admitted to soliciting sexually explicit videos from at least two other underage girls on Skype.
This case was investigated by the North East Michigan Trafficking and Exploitation Crimes Task Force, which includes Michigan State Police detectives assigned to Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit and FBI special agents.
The Clare County Sheriff's Office also was involved with the investigation.
