FLINT (WJRT) (2/11/2019) - Krystal Jo's Diner is hoping to outfit thousands of Flint-area children with a new or refurbished bicycle again this summer.
The Michigan State Police Flint Post recently helped move 200 donated bicycles to a storage facility. Tony Tucker, who owns Krystal Jo's, is planning to give them away in June.
Tucker annually repairs and gives away hundreds of bikes. He started the program six years ago with 25 bikes and has seen it grow every year to more than 2,000 bikes last summer.
Donations of new and used bicycles will be accepted at Krystal Jo's at 3616 Fenton Road in Flint from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Tucker also is collecting safety equipment like helmets and pads to give away with the bikes.
