Consumers Energy presents check to Michigan's Military & Space Heroes Museum
(04/07/17) - On April 6, 1917, a special session of congress declared war on the German Empire, officially signaling America's commitment to fight in World War I.
A hundred years later, a local utility is observing the centennial.
Consumers Energy presented a $2,500 check to the Michigan's Military & Space Heroes Museum in Frankenmuth on Friday.
The money will help in their overall educational budget.
“Pledges are in excess of $350,000, so it's amazing how far that goes to help support the ongoing operations here at the Museum. Educational programs, future plans, preservation of artifacts, procurement, as well as the endowment program,” said Greg Rummel, president of the Board of Directors.
Consumers Energy will sponsor a fortieth anniversary luncheon celebration for the museum at Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw on April 29. Lt. Col. Charles Kettles, the nation's most recent Medal of Honor recipient, will be honored.
