Court hearing resumes for former MSU president Lou Anna Simon

EATON COUNTY (WJRT) - (04/08/19) - The former president of Michigan State University was back in court Monday in Eaton County.

It was the second day of a hearing that will determine if Lou Anna K. Simon will face trial.

She is charged with four counts of lying to police officers over the former doctor Larry Nassar's sexual abuse investigation.

Witnesses who say Simon knew about a 2014 complaint regarding his alleged sexual conduct are expected to take the stand for the prosecution.

Simon's lawyers deny a meeting on the matter took place.

They say she fired Nassar when the case was exposed.

The Michigan Supreme Court recently rejected an appeal from Nassar, which means a 40-year prison sentence for assaulting gymnasts will stand.
