SAGINAW (WJRT) (5/25/2018) - A deacon with the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw has been removed from the ministry and withdrawn a priesthood petition to deal with unspecified issues.

Deacon Jerome Green was scheduled to be ordained into the priesthood on June 1, but he withdrew his petition. He also was relieved of his duties as parish administrator at St. Vincent DePaul Parish in Shepherd.

According to Bishop Joseph Cistone, the request was withdrawn so Green can "deal with prior issues" that occurred before he joined the ministry with the Diocese of Saginaw.

The issue in question and where it occurred was not disclosed.

Cistone plans to make an announcement soon for Green's replacement.
