Dog suffers gunshot injury on opening day of firearm deer season

BAD AXE (WJRT) - (11/15/18) - A dog may have been an unintended target by hunters out in the woods on opening day of firearm deer hunting season.

According to a post shared by the Thumb Animal Shelter, the Siberian Husky is recovering from a gunshot wound after being found in pretty rough shape near Bad Axe.

They say he's in stable condition after surgery. The bullet hit the dog's shoulder.

Initially, the post was made in an effort to find the dogs owners, but the family has since been located. The animal is being cared for by the Laursen Vet Service.
