MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) (4/9/2019) - Flint appears on a list of the best 125 American cities to live.
U.S. News released the list on Tuesday , ranking Flint in 115th place. Factors in the study include offering good valuable, providing a desirable place to live, having a strong job market and providing a high quality of life.
The magazine points to Flint's history as a leader in the lumbering and auto industries in the 1800s and 1900s. The narrative mentions the Flint water crisis, but also points out how resilient the city is.
"Whether it’s standing together as a neighborhood to combat crime or helping those in need, the Flint community works together to make it a better and safer area to live in," the report says.
It also mentions Flint's burgeoning arts culture and the presence of three higher education institutions.
Besides Flint, other Michigan cities on the list include Grand Rapids at No. 13, Lansing at No. 41 and Detroit at No. 92.
