FLINT (WJRT) (3/14/2019) - Anyone shopping around for an RV might be in luck.
The 42nd Annual Flint RV & Camping Show started Thursday at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center and continues through the weekend.
More than 50 RVs will be on display for people to check out. RV experts and campground representatives will be on standby to answer questions.
"Genesee County represents about 10 percent of the RV sales in the state of Michigan and it's a great opportunity to see what's the latest and greatest as we get towards the summer season,” said Darren Ing, director of Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds.
There is a huge benefit attending the show instead of going to see a RV on the lot -- cheaper prices and more availability.
"At the show you have full pickings of everything available for the year, if you come out to the lot sometimes everything's not available anymore,” said Steve Bonesteel of McDowell RV Sales & Services.
He said RVs are becoming more popular every day.
"It's becoming more affordable every year with younger families getting into and all kinds of features out there," Bonesteel said. "It's something for everyone and it's more affordable than it has been.”
He said shoppers should be careful that they are not tricked into buying something they really don’t need.
“Don't be pushed into buying something that you are not 100 percent sure that you want,” he said. "The salesmen that's going to walk through the entire unit with you and every feature that you need make sure it has before you buy it.”
The RV show continues through Sunday. An admission fee is required.
