Flint Restaurant Week showcases downtown restaurants

FLINT (WJRT) (05/15/2019) - It's the perfect week to enjoy good food and drinks in downtown Flint.

Tuesday kicked off Flint Restaurant Week, offering diners a chance to try some of the best eats in town.

"There's so many great restaurants, there's so many great places to get food and it's just a great way to highlight this is what Flint has and this is what you can experience," said Nicholas Pidek, the co-owner of Foster Coffee.

There are 20 participating restaurants and all of them are featuring some of their top items on the menu. One of the highlights is Foster Coffee and it's rolling out an espresso donut for the event.

"It's our coffee in the dough. It's got our espresso in there," Pidek said

Foster Coffee partnered with Blue Line Donuts to create this delicious treat. The doughnut shop operated by and located within Carriage Town Ministries.

"They provided an opportunity for Carriage Town to actually take the donuts out of that facility and bring it into the community, so it provides us spotlight in the community," said Brittany Willingham, who is the communications and volunteer coordinator for Carriage Town Ministries.

Not only are the donuts and bagels from Carriage Town a huge deal. The the coffee shop's smoothies and coffee are versatile.

"We roast ourselves in our roastery in Owosso and we've got coffees from all over the world," Pidek said.

He said if people never stopped by the coffee shop or tried any of the restaurants, this week will surely change where they go for lunch in the future.

"This what Flint has to offer, it's not just one, it's a whole experience and that's what really draws people back," Pidek said.

As an incentive to visit each hot spot throughout the week, participants can grab a free "passport of flavor" to document their food journey.

"Each participating location you visit, you get a stamp," Pidek said.

If you get six you can enter to win a special prize package. Flint Restaurant Week runs through May 19.
